RE: Where to put the stick house???

The only downside is that you will be traveling in summer when everyone else is traveling. And it gets surprisingly hot in most of the country, we have found. Fall is good, though, just about anywhere.
The problem here is that if you travel during the winter; you are limited to only the warmer states and they are very crowded and the rates are always higher.....

RE: Headed for the Keys (requests?)

I can't afford to go from here, but thanks for the offer, and have a great time.
State Park sites in the Keys are only $31 a night. Much better than the $50-140 for other places. A lot nicer, too.
There is a big reason for being cheaper this time of year,,,,,,,,,Hurricane season.
A tropical storm is brewing out there as we speak........be careful..........no place to be in an RV!

RE: Help Please - Cape Cod Area or Portland Maine Area

My nickle says if you go to Maine and you don't go past Portland up the coast to at least Bar Harbor then don't go to Maine.
Maine, south of Portland is no where as scenic as north.

RE: Fuse Panel Location

I had a Damon with a V-10 , along with the fuse box inside the MH(hidden in the bedroom) ;there were two fuse boxes under the hood, one had circuits for the coach parts also. Was even a reset button for items such as refrigerator ignition etc.
Never say never folks or never say there shouldn't be. One never knows with an RV where the manufacturer will "tuck" things.

RE: TT loan destroying my credit

I would assume that if the dealer arranged the financing that they are on a first name basis with someone of some authority at the Bank.
I would ask some one of some authority, at the dealership, to call the bank, in your presence, and ask them to get involved to help straighten this out.
Banks and financial institutions have the ability to talk to credit bureaus direct to ensure proper reporting of credit information.
You can also provide a written statement to the credit bureaus as to your version ,that they should post ; as a matter of record, until the matter is corrected.
Attorneys and threats will only add unnecessary costs that you may or may not recover.

RE: P/ P aMERICA

We tried to use it and so many times the campgrounds wouldn't honor it as it wasn't the right time of the year. Seems like during the summer months it wasn't honored as frequently as during off seasons.
We have found in talking with folks; those who have it like it but those who don't didn't like it......:S.

RE: Advice please - Hwy 101 from Seattle to San Fran

101 is fine for your rig, actually, anything on the road can handle it. When you get to SF, after you cross over the GGB, take a right turn on the Hwy1 exit and follow Presidio Blvd through Golden Gate Park. It then becomes 19th Ave, follow that to 280 and take that all the way to San Jose where it will hook up with 101 again. This will save you a lot of grief of having to negotiate traffic in downtown SF and the Peninsula where it is heavy all day long. Going through Santa Rosa, which is North of SF and Marin County, traffic can be heavy at times, so try to time it to miss commute hours. Other than that, just enjoy the ride which is a whole lot nicer than I-5.
Listen to this one. We did this last year and even got on 405 to 15 to San Diego. I wouldn't give ya 2 cents for the LA traffic but it's ok if you take your time.

RE: Oregon Coast

In traveling last year, we thought we could spend a week in Oregon. We ended up staying a month. We stayed in Oceanside, Newport and Coos Bay; then if that wasn't enough we stayed in Klamath , Ca. and Benbow, Ca. So much to see. Probably as many State Parks as any State in the Union. And as many private campgrounds. This was all on Rt 101 along the coast.

I used to carry an M-60 and a grenade launcher but after finding out I could get another mile or two per gallon with less weight ; I have found it easier to travel without them and stay in safer places......

RE: Navigation systems

We use a program that is on our laptop. Gives us a 15" screen and several whistles and bells. We can change the voice to 5 options, one of which is turn it off.
Traveling in a MH makes it nice for the big screen. Down side is that it is cumbersome traveling in a car.
We already had the lap top so the $70 price for the GPS was a no brainer for me.
We have Delorme brand but Microsoft also makes one.

RE: Wisconsin Dells popular vacation site devasted by tornado

Judging by the stumps in the lake, its size is man-made. To me that means that that section of the lake that gave way is a man made earthen dam or dike. Since there's no report of them opening the lakes flood gates to mitigate the heavy rain flow and prevent overloading the lakes design, I can only assume that the lake is an almost entirely earthen construct. Further commentary by others that the lake has "Drained" itself once before only would reinforce my statement that the lake needs to be re-engineered with something other than an earthen structure at its weaker shores.
They in fact had the dam wide open; it was just that the lake had more water running into it than they could get out and it jumped it's banks, washing out a road and then it drained.!

RE: Wisconsin Dells popular vacation site devasted by tornado

well, A tornado did not hit the Dells. The reason Lake Delton drained, was a road (County A) gave out because of the 12 inches of rain or so. The road went along the lake. There are still plenty of things to do in the Dells
We currently are staying at a KOA at the Dells and on our way in on I-94 we saw places where a tornado had topped tress. All be it, the heavy 3 days of rains has caused flooding and Delton Lake to jump it's banks and the lake is now "drained"
Still a lot to do but the water shows and boat rides in the Lower Dells are all canceled until further notice.
